The following new Courses have also been introduced from 2006-2007 -
Certificate Course in Nāṭya-Śāstra.
Certificate Course in Computational Sanskrit.
It is proposed to start a certificate course in Manuscriptology from next session.
Major Emphasised Areas
MAJOR EMPHASIS ON THE PROGRAMMES OF TEACHING AND RESEARCH :
At P.G. level, the Department offers specialisation in Sāhitya including Sanskrit literature, Kāvya-Śāstra and Nāṭya-Śāstra.
134 Scholars have worked for their Ph.D. in this Department and 4 for D.Litt. At Present about 18 researchers are working for Ph.D. Researches have been carried on the Mahābhārata, Nāṭya-Śāstra, Sanskrit Drama and Classical as well Modern Sanskrit literature and Computational Linguistics.
The Thrust Areas
The thrust areas in this Department are Sāhitya-Śāstra, Nāṭya-Śāstra, Modern Sanskrit literature and Computational Linguistics. Nine Research Projects completed so far in this Department are related to these areas of study.
New areas of specialization being developed under this Department are Manuscriptology and Computational Sanskrit.
