Dr. K. Bhuria, Professor in this Department has worked for her Doctoral thesis in the field of ya-Śāstra. She was appointed in the post of Reader in Nāya-Śāstra sanctioned by the UGC for VI Plan in this Department

Dr. Radha Vallabh Tripathi, Professor in this Department, was awarded D. Litt. on his thesis entitled : “Origin and Development of Theatre in Ancient India”. He has published several books and papers on traditional Theater and Nāya-Śāstra, and has brought out “ya-Śāstra-viśvakośa (An Encyclopaedia of Indian Theatre, Performing Arts and Aesthetics) in 4 Volumes in Hindi.

FIELD OF SPECIALIZATION :

             The thrust areas in this Department are Sāhitya-Śāstra, Nāya-Śāstra, Modern Sanskrit literature and Computational Linguistics. Nine Research Projects completed so far in this Department are related to these areas of study.

THE FACULTY OF THE DEPARTMENT VISITED ABOARD:

 Dr. Radhavallbh Tripathi, Professor in this Department was invited to deliver lectures in the Department of Indology, Humboldt University, Berlin, under Indo-GDR Cultural Exchange Programme and visited GDR for 10 weeks; April-June 1987. Under deputation by ICCR, New Delhi, he worked as Visiting Professor at Bangkok for three years (2002-2005)

Dr. R.V. Tripathi participated and presented research papers in VII world Sanskrit Conference held at Lieden, Holland in August, 1987, in VIII World Sanskrit Conference held at Vienna in 1989; in International Sanskrit Conference held at Bangkok in 2001 and 2005. and in 13th World Sanskrit Conference held at Edinburgh, UK, in July 2006.
